This evening my running program, Fit-tastic, finally started! I’ve been looking forward to this for months now! Naturally, I felt sick most of the afternoon, but I made it out and finished the run. I was on the fence about whether to join the walk-to-run group since I haven’t run in a while, but I ended up joining the time improvement group instead.
Today we had a short first run since there was a social afterwards. The plan was to do 5 min running/1 minute walking four times for a total of 30 minutes. We ended up only doing three repetitions due to time constraints. It was great! I didn’t push myself very hard and ended up using a few other people for pacing, but I could’ve easily run faster. The final distance was 1.83 miles, 21:08 minutes (including cool down). Check it out on RunKeeper!
In other news, I’m currently obsessed with tech tees. In the past I’ve always run in old t-shirts and men’s basketball shorts. I figured, why pay money for clothes just to sweat in? Why bother? And then I got a tech tee from a 5k race last year, and I immediately felt the difference. I’m realized good workout wear can actually make a difference and I’ve been working on my workout wardrobe off and on for the last few months. I cannot justify lululemon prices – and I was less than impressed the one time I tried on their clothes. Most of my workout clothes are from Old Navy and Target and I’ve got no complaints with them. Plus, my fun purple shirt there cost $8 – way better than $40!
Obsession #2 – RoadID. If you run, walk, bike, anything you should look into RoadID or something similar. They’re wrist bands or shoe tags that have your name, emergency contact information, or medical conditions engraved on a metal plate. Mine has my name, birth year, parent’s home & cell numbers, my insurance info and NKA (no known allergies). It’s just a good idea to have something like that on you at all time in case you’re in an accident. Check it out here!
